  • Followed by 4 min OFF

ITT Limits During Start

Aeroplane Category (Speed Classification)

Aeroplanes are classified by VAT (indicated airspeed at threshold = VSO × 1.3 or VS1G × 1.23 in landing configuration at maximum certificated landing mass; use the higher value if both are available):

Category VAT
A Less than 91 kt
B 91 to 120 kt
C 121 to 140 kt
  • The specific category for each Company aeroplane type is stated in Part B for each type
  • For circling approaches: CAT B approaches are prohibited — use CAT C minima and speeds
  • CAT C maximum circling speed: 180 kt within 4.20 nm of the runway

Acceptable Deferred Defects (B / C Classification)

B Defects

  • Defects where further damage or deterioration could affect airworthiness, but deferment is acceptable for a maximum specified period, provided:
  • The defect is permitted by the appropriate MEL
  • The defect is unlikely to deteriorate to an unairworthy condition within 30 days, or the date/hours/cycles if specified in the MEL 'limitations' section
  • The cumulative effect of multiple B defects on the same aircraft must continue to satisfy the above conditions

C Defects

  • Do not affect airworthiness
  • Should be rectified at the earliest opportunity
