Glossary¶
This section is a glossary of economic terms used by Marx in volume one of Capital, compiled as a ready reference for the reader. It contains brief definitions for key concepts such as absolute and relative surplus-value, constant and variable capital, commodity fetishism, the composition of capital, and the rate of surplus-value. The glossary also clarifies distinctions between concrete and abstract labour, price and value, and simple versus extended reproduction. It is a purely referential apparatus, not an argument, and would be useful for anyone needing quick clarification of Marx’s technical vocabulary as employed in the main text.
