Core Argument

This chapter digest is a reference apparatus, a list of citations and source notes for Part One of a larger work. Its core function is not to advance an argument but to anchor the preceding theoretical exposition in a specific canon of Marxist and scientific literature, demonstrating the materialist dialectic’s grounding in both classical texts and modern science.

The notes draw heavily on the foundational works of Marxism: Marx’s Capital (note 19, 43), Engels’s Dialectics of Nature (23, 26, 34, 37-39, 51) and Anti-Dühring (27, 31, 54, 58), and Trotsky’s In Defence of Marxism (18, 24, 56-57) and Writings (48, 55, 59). Lenin’s Collected Works, Volume 38 (the Philosophical Notebooks), is cited (41, 45), establishing a direct lineage from Hegel through Marx and Engels to the Bolshevik tradition. The inclusion of Hegel’s Science of Logic (35) and Phenomenology of Mind (40) signals the dialectical idealist roots of the method being defended.

The polemical thrust is implicit in the selection. The notes counterpose the Marxist dialectic to both bourgeois ideology and formal logic.
