Glossary

This section is a glossary of names, groups, periodicals and other terms referenced in the main text. It provides concise biographical entries for over one hundred political figures, predominantly Russian, German, French, and other European socialists, Marxists, and counter-revolutionaries active in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, including Lenin, Trotsky, Luxemburg, Kautsky, and Kerensky. The glossary also defines key political groupings (e.g., the Octobrists, the Zimmerwald Left), newspapers (e.g., Avanti!, Berner Tagwacht), and concepts (e.g., Bernsteinism, Millerandism). It is a useful reference for identifying the historical actors and organisations central to the period of the First World War and the Russian Revolution.
