Having once again considered my decision in regard to Comrade Vever[1] following his further explanations, I inform you that my decision stands and has to be fulfilled.

[1] On June 14, 1920, Lenin imposed a penalty on E. Y. Vever, Manager of the Gorki Sanatorium—a month’s arrest—for cutting down a perfectly sound spruce in the sanatorium park. The Podolsk Uyezd Executive Committee was charged with the carrying out of this sentence (see Collected Works, Fifth Ed., Vol. 41, p. 151).
