Dear Friend,

Nadya has written in such detail,^[2] that I have nothing to add. I wish you all the best, congratulate you on your success in America and ask YOU to keep closer in touch by letter. If Belenin wants to go there, he must be thrice more careful (the danger is great) and thoroughly plan his trips for establishing contacts. These are lacking. And where is A. M.? Best regards.

[2] Lenin’s note and Krupskaya’s letter to Shlyapnikov were in reply to the latter’s first letter written upon his return to Europe from America (he returned to Copenhagen on September 29). In his letter Shlyapnikov gave an account of the work he had done in America and wrote that he was planning to go to Russia. In view of this Lenin, for reasons of secrecy, refers to Shlyapnikov as “Bel.” in his note.
