Beond looks to open European premium routes to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea resort airport¶
Leisure carrier unveils pact to build on earlier Milan route with kingdom’s air connectivity committee.
Premium leisure carrier Beond is looking to link several European cities with Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea international airport, under a co-operation agreement.
The tentative pact between the carrier and the Saudi government’s air connectivity programme committee was unveiled at the Farnborough air show.
Beond operated an inaugural service from Milan to Red Sea airport – which opened in 2023 – in November last year.
The carrier says it aims to “explore opportunities” to expand with all-premium services from London, Paris, Munich, Moscow and Zurich.
Beond chief Tero Taskila says the agreement marks the next phase of the carrier’s long-term expansion strategy.
The Saudi airport has been established as part of a resort project.
Developer Red Sea Global’s chief, John Pagano, says there is “strong demand” for direct premium access to the resort, and the agreement with Beond “builds on that momentum”.
He adds that it brings the destination “within easier reach” of travellers from “key source markets”.
The head of the Saudi air connectivity programme, Ahmed Abraham, says the pact supports the government’s Vision 2030 initiative to stimulate inbound tourism traffic.
