Emergency Equipment: 1.1 Introduction¶
The aircraft has fire fighting, oxygen, and first aid equipment. They are put all over the cabin and easily available for use in case of emergency. The emergency lighting system provides aircraft lighting when all other electrical power sources are no longer available.
Emergency Equipment: 1.2 Cockpit¶
Each crewmember station has: - Life vest - Smoke goggles - Quick donning oxygen mask supplied with gaseous oxygen from one rechargeable bottle - Flashlights. A portable fire extinguisher and a crash axe are at the bottom on the electrical rack. Depending on versions, a Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE) is behind the captain seat and is available for crewmember use. One plug type hatch in the cockpit ceiling is provided as an emergency exit for the cockpit crew. One escape rope is in a compartment on top of the electric rack near the exit. Steps are provided for hatch access in the corridor on right side. Protective gloves are behind the captain seat.
Emergency Equipment: 1.3 Cabin¶
The emergency equipment is put all over the cabin and stowed adjacent to the two cabin crew stations. It contains: - Portable fire extinguishers - Protective Breathing Equipments (PBE) - First aid kits - Crash axe (as required by regulations) - Life vests (stowed under each passenger seat and at the cabin crew stations) - Oxygen supply for passengers - Portable oxygen bottle for cabin crew - Flashlights - Manual Release Tool (MRT) to open the oxygen modules (if installed) - Protective gloves (if installed) - Megaphone.

Emergency Equipment: 1.5 Schematics¶
The following diagrams are defined as a typical layout of the emergency equipment in the aircraft. Depending on the aircraft version and the options installed, ATR operators are responsible for the customization of these diagrams.

Emergency Equipment: 1 General¶
The system has: - A main system that supplies flight crew and passengers - A portable unit for the cabin crew. A high pressure cylinder supplies oxygen to the distribution system. A discharge part is available in the case of overpressure.
Emergency Equipment: 2 Flight Crewmembers¶
The quick donning masks are in accessible containers adjacent to each flight crew seat. The mask harness inflates automatically when the flight crew pulls the mask out of its container. It can easily be donned with one hand. An oxygen diluter selector provides pressure control: - In the case of pressure drop, with the oxygen diluter selector in the N (normal) position, the flight crew receives diluted oxygen for a duration of 30 min at demand flow (to descend from 25 000 ft to 10 000 ft) - In the case of smoke or noxious gas emission, with the oxygen diluter selector in the 100 % position, the flight crew receives oxygen for a duration of 15 min at demand flow. Third Occupant Mask with Oxygen Adapter Extension: The third occupant's oxygen mask is fitted with an oxygen adapter extension in the form of a preformed spiral hose coiled in the mask stowage box. It can be used as far as the forward cargo compartment.
Emergency Equipment: 3 Cabin Crew Portable Unit¶
(Applies: 1054-1096;1237-1283) - Two portable oxygen bottles are available, one at each cabin crew seat. They permit a continuous diluted flow to one cabin crew at 13 000 ft for a duration of 30 min. The bottles have a diluted oxygen mask - Protective breathing equipment is in the baggage box of the cabin.

Emergency Equipment: 4 Passengers¶
(Applies: 1054-1096;1237-1283) The main system provides passenger protection through a PAX SUPPLY valve. It controls flow to oxygen masks installed under the hat racks. The passenger outlets supply 25 % of the passengers with a continuous diluted flow for a duration of 30 min in case of pressure drop (4 min to descend from 25 000 ft to 13 000 ft, 26 min to continue the flight between 13 000 ft and 10 000 ft) in addition to the flight crew 120 min consumption. The pressure regulators feed oxygen modules in the case of rapid depressurization of passenger compartment. The regulation starts at 10 000 ft and is full at 25 000 ft.

If preflight pressure is below 1 400 psi, the flight crew must check that minimum oxygen quantity is available for the flight (Refer to Minimum Bottle Pressure). 2 MAIN SUPPLY Pushbutton Controls the low pressure supply solenoid valve. pb pressed in The valve is in open position, low pressure oxygen supplies the flight crew oxygen masks. LO PR Comes on amber and the FWS is activated of low pressure (below 50 psi) is detected in the distribution circuit. 3 PAX SUPPLY Switch MAN OVRD Deploys the passenger oxygen masks. The pressure regulators provide oxygen at cabin altitude above 10 000 ft. AUTO Oxygen masks deploys in the case of depressurization. The ALT PRESS sw opens the PAX SUPPLY valve when cabin altitude is above 13 250 ft (±250 ft). OFF PAX SUPPLY valve is in close position. The position stops the passenger oxygen supply, as a result the oxygen is only for the flight crew. 4 PAX SUPPLY ON light Comes on white when the PAX SUPPLY valve is open.

The flight crew oxygen masks are of the quick donning inflatable harness type, stowed in a container at each flight crew station. The masks can be donned with one hand and include a regulator. 1 Release Clips Release the red clips unlocks the container doors. It also enables automatic inflation of mask harness, provided that the PRESS TO TEST AND RESET pb is in TEST position or mask is extracted from container. The oxygen flow indicator momentarily displays a yellow cross. 2 Oxygen Flow Indicator (Blinker) Displays a yellow cross when there is oxygen flow, and black when there is no oxygen flow. 3 Oxygen Diluter Selector Controls the selection of normal or 100 % oxygen for mask delivery. 100 % The mask delivers 100 % oxygen. N The mask delivers diluted oxygen. 4 PRESS TO TEST AND RESET pb Enable to test the oxygen flow with the mask still in the container. It is spring-loaded to the RESET position. TEST Provided MAIN SUPPLY pb is selected ON, oxygen flows through the mask. The oxygen flow indicator momentarily displays yellow cross, and the flow is audible. The observer mask includes a longer hose in order to enable access to the cargo compartment with the mask. 5 EMERGENCY Selector Activates pressurization of mask delivery flow when the oxygen diluter selector is at 100 %. Rotation of the selector knob has two positions: - High position: 100 % oxygen on-demand (Normal) - Low position: 100 % oxygen continually (Emergency). When pressed for test, it delivers full pressure.
