5 Procedure Presentation¶
Emergency and Abnormal Procedure 03 APR 2019
The FCOM procedures provides additional details and explanations related to the failed system compare to AFM and QRH. As much as practical, nomenclature to identify a push buttons, switches, selectors, lights…, in the procedures follow the cockpit panel’s labeling. The emergency and abnormal procedures titles are arranged as much as practical, in this order: name of system, then function, then system’s state and finally the phase (when applicable). When a procedure applies to either one of the two identical aircraft systems, it is indicated as SYSTEM 1(2). When procedure is applicable to dual system failure, then it is indicated as SYSTEM 1+2. PRO. GEN PROCEDURES In general, the emergency and abnormal procedures are presented in three parts in the FCOM: 1) Alert The alert box provides associated system failure information such as: - Condition: reason for the alert. - Visual: local and master visual warnings/alerts message. - Aural: audio alerts (Continuous Repetitive Chime (CRC), Single Chime (SC), Clacker, …). 2) Procedure 1) Memory Item - Memory item are BOXED. - Boxed actions are considered time-critical and should be memorized and executed from memory. 2) Actions - Actions are identified by the symbol ►. - Actions can be immediate in the form of ►CHALLENGE………RESPONSE, or lasting in the form of ► SYSTEM STATE or ACTION or VALUE : DESCRIPTION. - A lasting action can be for the remaining of flight, phase, or as long as a condition exist. 3) Conditions - When an action(s) is dependent of a condition the condition is identified by the symbol ■. 4) Phases - When actions have to be applied at phase of procedure/flight is identified by the symbol ●. 5) Information - Applicable information associated with an action of failure situation is presented in all capital letters without any symbol e. g. MAINTENANCE ACTION REQUIRED, AP CAN BE REENGAGED. 6) Layer - When applicable, a Layer (in gray) is displayed below an action to provide additional information/ explanation that are helpful. Note Warning, Caution & Note found in the procedures are in accordance with the definition presented in the General section (Refer to GEN. 8 Definition). 3) Additional Information and/or Lost Equipment List PRO. GEN PROCEDURES - When applicable, Additional Information section following a procedure provides supplementary information for associated failed system. - For systems that supply power or information to other systems or subsystems a Lost Equipment List is provided listing equipment impaired as a result of the failure.

Normal Procedure 21 DEC 2017
The FCOM normal procedure is a detail sequence of actions recommended by ATR for normal operation. In addition, to this normal procedure section for normal but non-routine operation some procedures and additional explanation can be found in the Additional Normal Procedures (Refer to ADDITIONAL NORMAL PROCEDURES) and Special Operations (Refer to SPECIAL OPERATIONS. The normal procedure section covers pre-flight preparation (cockpit & exterior inspections as well as system tests), normal operation by flight phase, and operation in atmospheric icing condition. The sequencing of actions of the normal procedure is presented in “task sharing display” as it relates to the area responsibility for the crew (CAPT or F/O) or as pilot flying and monitoring (PF or PM). The nomenclature and format of Actions, Conditions, Phases, Information, Layer Warning, Caution, and Note are consistent with emergency and abnormal procedures.

The general task sharing shown below should be applicable to all procedures. The responsibility of the pilot's flying should remain the same during normal and abnormal situation and throughout the application of Emergency and abnormal procedure. However, in order to maintain a balance workload when executing emergency/abnormal procedure using the QRH, the pilot flying (PF) should assume the responsibility of the radio communication. At all times, the AFCS should be coupled to the PF side by CPL selection. PF is in charge of: PM is in charge of: Flight Path Flight path & systems monitoring Navigation Communication Aircraft configuration Checklist reading Procedure initiation Execution of called actions by PF

The flight crew must assess the failures when fully identified and the constraints it imposes and make decision based on the remaining aircraft capabilities with the awareness of the current operational situations (condition, environment, and/or constraint). a) System Reset At flight crew discretion, one RESET of a failed system associated to an amber caution may be performed by selecting the related pb (push-button) OFF (for 3 s) then ON except for systems listed below. If the failure alert disappears, continue normal operation and record the event in the aircraft maintenance logbook for information. If not, apply the associated abnormal procedure. For the following systems the flight crew should strictly follow the abnormal procedure and RESET only when it is called by the abnormal procedure: - ECU / EEC. - PEC. - CAB PRESS MODE SEL. - BAT CHG (EMER & MAIN), in FLIGHT only. Note In the case of EMER(MAIN) BAT CHG FAULT on ground, only one reset is permitted provided that TRU and both DC GEN are operative. In case of BLEED LEAK, or BUS FAULT alerts, do not reset the associated systems BLEED VALVE pb or GEN pb. In case of HYD OVHT, do not reset the associated HYD PUMP. b) Circuit Breaker (C/B) Reset CAUTION Circuit Breaker (C/B) must not be RESET by the flight crew unless otherwise specified in the operational documentation by ATR. - Flight Crew may REENGAGE a tripped circuit breaker ONLY IF HE/SHE JUDGES IT IS NECESSARY FOR A SAFE CONTINUATION OF THE FLIGHT. In this case only ONE reengagement should be attempted. If the failure alert disappears, continue normal operation, if not apply the associated abnormal procedure. - Regardless the outcome on system behavior, when reengaging a tripped C/B, the flight crew must make a « Maintenance Action Required » entry in the Aircraft maintenance logbook describing the event. WARNING DO NOT REENGAGE THE C/B OF THE FUEL PUMP(S). Note Due to many customization possibilities of the C/B panels, before taking any action on a C/B, the flight crew must crosscheck that the C/B label corresponds to the affected system.

For takeoff, all alerts are inhibited except for the following alerts: WARNING CAUTION - ENG FIRE - ENG OVER LIM - ENG FLAME OUT - ENG PROP LIM - LDG GEAR NOT DN - ENG OIL TEMP LOW - CONFIG - ENG OIL TEMP HIGH - NAC OVHT - ENG PROP NP - PROP BRK - FLAPS JAM - FLAPS UNLK - FLAPS ASYM - PITCH DISC - PITCH TRIM ASYM - EXCESS CAB ΔP - FLT CTL TLU - EXCESS CAB ALT - AIL LOCK LIT - AP PITCH TRIM - A-ICING SEL - PITCH MISTRIM - AILERON MISTRIM - AHRS NOT ALIGN - RUDDER MISTRIM - YAW AUTOTRIM - MAINT PANEL Then the inhibition is canceled when: - Automatically at landing gear retraction or, - by pressing the RCL pb.

Upon procedure completion, PM must tick each item, to acknowledge that the action is completed. PRO. GEN PROCEDURES - Importance of procedure pending message: Pending procedure notice needs to be carefully considered when displayed. It indicates that associated procedure needs to be performed. - Importance of the PROCEDURE COMPLETED item: The PROCEDURE COMPLETED item is displayed at the end of each started procedure provided all its items have been ticked. Ticking this item is the only way to complete a procedure. - Importance of IF statements: Following each procedure of IF proposition, PM must carefully read and understand the different alternatives. PM must then obtain PF’s approval and confirmation to select the related IF alternative. Once an IF case has been selected, PM must carefully read and understand related procedure and its associated subtitle. PM must then obtain PF’s approval and confirmation to execute the procedure. - Awareness of STATUS: Flight crew must open and review the statuses during recall. - DU failure: Neither DU fault procedure exists nor related reference is made in FWS, FCOM or QRH.

- The recommended procedures contained in this chapter have been established by the aircraft manufacturer and approved by the Airworthiness Authorities for application in the event of a serious failure
- It is assumed that in general, all failures are indicated by the operation of specific system warnings and/or by direct observation
- Actions recommended may result in the loss of systems not associated with the failure
- When fire, smoke, or fumes, are encountered on the aircraft, land as soon as possible. Consider landing at the nearest suitable airport only if fire suppression is visually confirmed. After any fire suppression procedure or smoke evacuation (even though smoke has been dissipated), fire suppression shall be confirmed visually.
- Whenever a fire extinguisher is discharged in the cockpit, the flight crew should go to 100 % oxygen.
